My first week in Australia

The first week is up, so time for a small travel update!! ;)

Started my journey on the 21st of January in Dubai, which is an incredible city! Modern, clean, great architecture and the perfect place to go clubbing. The people are very friendly as well.

During my stay I couch surfed around Dubai Marina with an amazing host and during the day I took some long walks to the Marina walk (boulevard) The Dubai Palm (Atlantis hotel) and the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world) with spectacular view and fountain show. Met up with yet another wonderful couch surfer who showed me around the Burj and after a few wonderful warm days it was time to move on towards Australie.

Had a flight to Delhi and then to Singapore with some lovely complimentary Indian airplane meal and all the drinks my body could take, ending up in the back galley of the plane with a bottle of wine and 2 male flight attendants, such fun!

Singapore was a bit of a let down, most part of the city is overcrowded, dirty and not very beautiful to look at. I did discover Orchard road which was modern, clean and very commercial but my final conclusion about Singapore is still not really impressive (but if you think otherwise, please prove me wrong ;)

And then! Le grande finale, my flight to Perth. Exactly a week ago now I got reunited with Marieke :) after a 5 hour wait at the airport, we finally found each other and made our way to the hostel. After loads of chaos, miscommunication and drunk people (it was Australia day) we finally got to rest our pretty little eyes and decided upon awaking that we needed to find a cleaner, more organized and better place to stay! So we went couch surfing.

With a great host and a bedroom with a Queen size bed specially for us, we decided it was time to go explore the city! Perth has 2 separated parts which consist of city centre, everything you can wish for, loads of shops, food, all modern en very convenient. And then there is the other part which is an excellent place for evening snacks, dinner, dancing, karaoke and your every day hang out.

During the week we did the useful things, set up bank account, explore, find a job, make some friends and then it was time for some partying 2.0! Had the best times you could wish for in a new city! Hostel parties, free entrance, 5 dollar BBQ and crazy, wild and exciting train rides home!

Yesterday put the 'cherry on the pie' with a 4 hour Silent disco at Fringe world (like the Dutch 'Parade') with the lovely company of Rudy, Jora, Nynke, Trent and of course Marieke.

And here we are now, Sunday! Time to get a little bit more serious and try to make some progress ;) Today we will join with Rudy and Jora to start a little road trip tomorrow. We've got some great job offers in the running, we are still healthy (and trying to follow some creative 'non sugar' diet with morning shakes) we met amazing people, the weather is delightful and we are going strong, happy and energetic (well, give it a few hours.. it was a late night.. ;))
