Mainly piglets..

I dream about them, smell (like) them and every now and then I feel them as well.. my life pretty much consists of piglets nowadays.. And Marieke of course ;) my forever partner in crime!
The past 2 weeks we have been living and working in Mandurah and Pinjarra, one hour drive south of Perth. Because we needed to get some farm work done for our second year visa we went in search for a job and quite rapidly found this pig farm that wanted to set up a trial for 'midnight midwifes' to see if there would be more survival rate amongst piglets if we would watch them at night and, when necessary, assist during farrowing (giving birth)
Long story short, they liked us, gave us an apartment close by for just the 2 of us (in a lovely city) and we started working from 7pm till 5am (yes, 10 hours every night) wednesday till sunday.
Many of you have seen the pictures of our cute piggies already, we saved many lives so far, also saw a couple of really sad cases and we turned into veterinary assistants ( including the whole 'arm up the sow to pull the piglets out' and giving medication)
Well.. If you did the math, 10 hours of work, 30 min drive each way, shower, breakfast and sleep, that doesn't leave us with much time during the day, but as of today we signed up to the local gym/pool for 2 months!! haha, yay! Just had my first swim this afternoon and loved it! We also started with some superfood lifestyle which means as much as eating healthy, making loads of shakes with carrots, berries, veggies and all else healthy. So far very good ;)
And then Mandurah, a great place to live, it has got everything we need, a beautiful boardwalk, waters with dolphins (didn't see one yet, but I have been told) loads op shops, coffee places, cinema and art centre.
What else can I tell you.. times flies, it's been 6 weeks already since I came to Australia, maybe even 7. Perth was amazing filled with great people, parties, sea, sand, boats and hostel times. Throughout these weeks we met amazing people who will still keep in touch with and every now and then we drive back to Perth for a random party or a catch up.
Well, we are off to work. This is it for now!
